Our Scholarship Program is designed for families with neurodivergent children and children with disabilities who may not otherwise have access to our space due to financial, time, or energy constraints. We recognize that many families invest heavily in therapy, care, and support for their children, and we believe these families deserve a place to relax, connect, and play. Applications and nominations are reviewed holistically, considering individual family circumstances and needs.
We select recipients based on a combination of need, fit with our mission, and available funding. Each application and nomination is reviewed with care, privacy, and respect. Our goal is to ensure that scholarships go to families who will benefit most from the unique support, sensory-focused space, and community connection The Third Place for Kids provides. We aim to serve a diverse range of families, recognizing that needs can be both visible and invisible.
Absolutely! We understand that some families may not feel comfortable seeking opportunities for themselves. Anonymous nominations are welcome and will be treated with the same level of care and consideration. While we won’t disclose the nominator's information, we may still need to reach out to the nominated family to verify eligibility and interest. Our priority is ensuring that every family selected feels supported, respected, and included.
Why Our Scholarship Program Matters
For families with neurodivergent children and children with disabilities, the world often feels like it wasn’t built for them. Outings that should bring joy turn into stressful events. Spaces are too loud, too bright, or simply not designed with their needs in mind. What should be carefree family time becomes a balancing act—managing meltdowns, dodging stares, and navigating environments that aren’t welcoming.
And when there are spaces that accommodate their needs, they’re often clinical—therapy rooms, medical offices, or specialized programs. While these resources are essential, they don’t offer a place for families to simply be together. The reality for many parents is that the only time they truly get to exhale is when their children are at school or with respite care—but these moments of relief happen apart, not together.
That’s why The Third Place for Kids exists—to change that story.
We are a Third Place for the whole family—a place where families can relax together, not separately. A space where no explanations are needed. Where neurodivergent children and children with disabilities can be themselves without judgment. Where parents can finally sit back, take a deep breath, and simply enjoy watching their kids thrive. A place where belonging is felt, not earned.
